Fotona QX MAX Laser and Aesthetics
The Fotona QX MAX is a Q-switched laser system manufactured by Fotona, a Slovenia-based laser manufacturer known for in-house engineering and precision optics. Positioned as an advanced version of the original Fotona QX, the QX MAX is built around a five-source, four-wavelength design that gives clinics a single platform for treating pigmented lesions, vascular lesions, and multi-colored tattoos.
The system delivers 1064 nm Nd:YAG for dark pigments, 532 nm KTP for lighter pigments, vascular lesions, and red/tan/purple/orange tattoo inks, plus 650 nm and 585 nm dye wavelengths for green and sky-blue tattoo inks respectively. Rather than relying on one wavelength for every pigment color, practitioners can match the wavelength to the specific pigment or ink being treated, improving clearance rates on complex, multi-colored tattoos that single-wavelength lasers struggle to fully remove.
At the core of the system is a high single-pulse energy of up to 1.6 J with 5 ns pulse durations, which Fotona positions as more efficient at breaking down pigment than multi-pulse lasers running at equivalent energy levels.
