The 3Shape E4 is a laboratory desktop scanner designed for high-volume digital labs that need both speed and implant-grade accuracy from a single unit. Four 5MP cameras allow it to capture a full arch in as little as 9–11 seconds — roughly twice as fast as its predecessor, the 3Shape E3 — while holding an accuracy of 4 microns (ISO 12836), compared with 7 microns on the E3.
The four-camera array also enables die-in-model scanning, letting technicians capture individual dies while they remain seated in the full model rather than removing and scanning them separately, which cuts scanning steps for crown-and-bridge and multi-unit cases. Full-arch impression scanning (rather than a poured model) takes about 45 seconds. Independent bench testing has shown the E4 among the most accurate desktop scanners tested, with trueness in the 12–13 micron range, on par with dedicated industrial reference scanners.
Like the rest of 3Shape's E Series, the E4 includes auto-start scanning and articulator holder support, and runs on 3Shape's ScanIt Dental software with an optional LabCare subscription covering updates, training, and a 5-year warranty and replacement service.
